Reserving items

If you find an item you want to borrow but it is not available you can ask us to reserve it for you for a fee.

You can ask for an item to be reserved if -

  • you need it sent to a different library
  • it is on loan to someone else
  • it's a new item we haven't got yet

Making a reservation

The easiest way if to use our online catalogue

  • search for the item you are looking for
  • go into the item details
  • select the 'Place Hold' link under the image of the book
  • log in with your library ticket details
  • we will notify you when the item is ready for collection either by text, email or post depending on which contact details we have for you
  • the reservation fee can be paid when you next visit the library

To reserve an item over the telephone or in person

Telephone or visit your local library and ask to reserve an item. We'll need to know your library card number (the long number under the barcode). If you don't have it to hand, we might ask for your -

  • name
  • date of birth
  • postcode

We'll do the rest. If you telephone there will be the reservation fee to pay on your next visit to the library.
